What is a Public Record?
Public Records Act (PRA) requests are for documents that currently exist and have been created in the normal course of business. Contrary to popular belief, not all records are maintained permanently. CONFIRE follows its Administrative Committee adopted Records Retention Schedule, which is based upon various Government Codes that regulate the retention and destruction of records. Also, some fire related records reside with their respective Fire agency and or city of jurisdiction.
Any fees associated with a records request are based upon the actual costs associated with copying the record, as allowed by Government Code and approved by the CONFIRE Administrative Committee by its Fee Schedule.
If you have general questions regarding public records, please contact CONFIRE during business hours at (909) 356-2334.
