The Consolidated Fire Agencies, commonly referred to as CONFIRE, is proud to announce that veteran dispatcher Alix Anderson has been
selected as Telecommunicator of the Year by the Southern California Association of Public Safety Communication Officials (APCO). This award recognizes a telecommunicator or dispatcher who consistently performs at a superior level.
“Alix embodies the organization’s commitment to providing exceptional service,” said CONFIRE’s Interim Executive Director, Nathan Cooke. “Her calm demeanor and professionalism have assisted countless individuals during their time of crisis.”
In addition to Alix’s recognition, CONFIRE’s Dispatch Supervisor, Tara DeNunzio, has been selected as this year’s Runner-Up in the Supervisor of the Year category. This award recognizes a communication supervisor who consistently performs at a superior level. “Tara is an amazing leader, committed to excellence, collaboration, and a tireless drive to improve the organization’s operational standards,” said CONFIRE’s Interim Executive Director, Nathan Cooke.
Alix has been a valued dispatcher at CONFIRE for the past 10 years, including four years as an Associate Supervisor. Tara has been a dedicated member of the CONFIRE team for seven years. She began her career as a call taker and quickly advanced to the role of an Emergency Dispatcher. Within three years, she was promoted to her current position.
Established in 1935, APCO includes 9-1-1 Telecommunications, Public Safety Answering Supervisors and Managers, Radio Frequency/Information Technology/Geographic Information System Technicians, Analysts, Engineers, Police/Fire/EMS personnel, State and Local Government employees, military personnel, and tribal police.
Alix and Tara will be recognized at the APCO’s Awards Banquet on Friday, April 11, 2025, which is scheduled at the Knott’s Hotel.
